21st Century Classroom - Raspberry Pi vs Odroid U3

<< 21st Century Classroom - Kids and Code

In the urge to discover a low cost but efficient computing platform suitable for classroom settings, today I was able to power up Odroid U3. I imaged a 4GB SD card with Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and gave it a shot. It for sure impressed me with its fluid performance.

Odroid U3 is essentially a dev board with the power of Samsung Galaxy S3 (1.7 Ghz Samsung Exynos 4412 quad-core processor, 2 GB RAM) all for only $59 + shipping + import duty :). This is for sure a lot more power than most of the computers in public schools these days.

Despite the fact that Odroid U3 has a lot more power than Raspberry Pi but Raspberry Pi has most attractive price tag for educationists. But when I saw Odroid U3 coming on surface, the only question I had in my mind was that if this can fulfill the needs of computing in class room for public schools?

In my future posts I shall further explore the scope of technology in the field of education.Subscribe to my blog, or follow me on twitter, to keep track of these posts.
