Search Gmail logs in Administrator Control Panel

Google has rolled out a tool for Google Apps Administrators to search through Gmail logs, the company announced on July 3, 2012: http://googleappsupdates.blogspot.ca/2012/07/search-gmail-logs-in-administrator.html

This feature is available from Reports tab of Google Apps admin control panel as shown below:

However, this feature has not been rolled out for all the Google Apps accounts yet and will take few weeks before all Google Apps accounts could receive this feature.

Email log search gives Google Apps admins the ability to go through the last month of the delivery logs for their domain(s) and evaluate inbound/outbound messages.

For now the log search feature includes the following information:

1 – Basic message information like Message Id, Date, Subject, Sender and Recipient.
2 – Attachment size
3 – Total transit time
4 – Delivery Status

This feature of Google Apps will bring Gmail even more close to hosted or on-premise email systems, such as Microsoft Exchange, IBM Lotus Domino or Novell NetMail, etc.
