Recently I decided to upgrade my Windows 7 to Windows 8 which I had purchased in August of 2012 and I accidently came across a loophole in Microsoft’s Windows Upgrade Offer site at (giantbomb). But in my opinion it is just a promotional offer from Microsoft or this loophole wouldn’t be still existing since October 30, 2013.
Anyways, this is how you take advantage of this offer:
1. Go to http://www.windowsupgradeoffer.com, on landing page select “Canada – English”, if you happen to live in Canada.
2. Click “Continue” on the next page
3. In the registration form, provide all the required registration information except when it asks you about “Windows 7 PC purchase information”, if you have only bought the Windows 7 instead of a computer, you can provide your date of purchase of your Windows 7, which should be after June 2nd, 2012. Select “Other” for PC Brand and enter "Windows 7" for PC Model; click orange “Continue” button at the bottom.
4. Immediately after I clicked “Continue” button, I received two emails in my Inbox. The first one was with the title “Windows 8 is here. Get your upgrade now” congratulating me with a Windows Upgrade Offer promo code for Windows 8 Pro with two “important notes” mentioned as:
a. You‘ll need to run the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant on the PC you want to upgrade.
b. Once you get to the purchase screen, it will show the full price. However, on the order confirmation page you‘ll have a chance to enter your promo code = then the price will change to your windows Upgrade Offer promotional price* after clicking apply.
5. Do exactly as it is said in “important notes” found in the email. Click the link “Download Upgrade Assistant” provided in the email.
6. Now follow the sequence as shown below to get your Windows 8 Upgrade.

I hope you had fun using windows 8. It does take a little while to get used to it. When you have gotten used to it, it becomes a breeze. I recently upgraded my laptop from windows 7 to 8 and it has been great. lots of complaints from people mentioning that the experiences suck on laptops that don't have touch screen. All you need to do is to get a wireless mouse and it way better than using the trackpad. I rarely use the trackpad on the laptop.
